Xavier Edward Lawson began playing the piano at age six. Soon to enter fifth grade, he continues to enjoy jam sessions with his sister Olivier who plays the piano as well. They keep each other sharp. He loves music and has an aptitude for music composition. He has his mindset on a future in music.

He confessed his belief in Jesus Christ at the youthful age of five. Xavier has a heart for helping people and is very in tune to noticing other’s feelings. He has an active imagination and enjoys Legos, marbles and board games. In the area of sports, he has played soccer & basketball for several seasons in youth leagues.


Bahamas based husband and wife duo are the architects behind The Vice~Versa Band. As the name implies, “Vice~Versa’s” repertoire covers a hybrid of musical genres including Jazz, R&B, Pop, Soul, Calypso and other Caribbean musical styles.

Known for their seamless harmonies, Clinton and Naomi have become popular for their intimate but spirited “live by request” shows, which forces them to continuously grow and expand their repertoire.

The couple has expansive international exposure, having performed throughout the Caribbean, the USA, Canada, Japan and Europe and having studied with or worked alongside respected icons such as Norman Simmons, Hubert Laws, the late Peter Appleyard and Mr Barry Harris.

Today the Vice~Versa Band performs in various combos (from a 2pc duo up to an 8pc band) however, the effectiveness, efficiency and energy of the music is consistently delivered without compromise, regardless of the band size, to ensure their listeners are always left feeling inspired by the music.

TYRONE THURSTON, Guitarist, Bassist, Vocalist

Under the capable leadership of guitar/bass player/soloist, Tyrone Thurston formed the “Melody Sound Band” in 1998 after eight years of, one of the leaders, songwriter lead singer of the “Island Boys Band”.

Melody Sound performed throughout the Bahamas and internationally including being the backup band for a Jazz concert that featured, world-renowned Jeanette Harris, former Teena Marie’s saxophone player. Also, a 3-month cruise engagement on the Disney Dream.

Tyrone Thurston is an accomplished musician who performed on stage locally and internationally with superstars. Tyrone played the bass guitar for the famous Drifters during a concert at the Cable Beach Hotel in the 1980s.

He played with the Island Boys as an opening act for Brian Mcknight at the Disney Convention Center. He performed with the Island Boys for the 1996 Orange Bowl Pregame show for BET and shared the stage with The Ohio Players, KC and Joe Joe, Earth Wind and Fire and many more super acts.


Speak with Tyranique Thurston  and she will affirm “Music is in my blood!” Included among her many talents are musician, singer, teacher and an entrepreneur: All of which will be used in the fulfilment of her aspiration to become a music therapist.

She was exposed to the music business from a tender age. Her true passion manifested itself when she joined the College of the Bahamas concert choir in 2009. Being a part of the choir nurtured her talents and allowed her to blossom into a confident musician.  Also resulting from her time in the choir was the opportunity to develop her leadership skills.  As one of the leaders of an ensemble called Voices of Paradise, she performed at various events including local festivals.

Her musical career gained momentum after joining the Melody Sounds band full-time in August 2016.  Tyranique excitedly recalls that after four months with the band they had an opportunity to perform in concert with Jeanette Harris, one of the saxophonists for the late Teena Marie.  Melody Sounds have provided numerous opportunities to work at a variety of venues including a Disney cruise ship. Weekly performances at Nassau’s International Airport and the cruise arrival Welcome Centre to welcome visitors have been an energizing experience for her. Owing to the band’s versatility, they are called on to entertain business groups’ private events at Nassau’s well known Atlantis and Bahamar resorts. Tyranique has fully enjoyed these experiences and confidently feels ”This is just the beginning!”.

THEOPHILUS COAKLEY, Piano Vocalist, Composer, Producer

Theophilus Coakley is a brilliant pianist, keyboardist, vocalist, composer, and producer from Andros Island in the Bahamas. “Theo” or “T” Coakley had a very successful music career and is most known for his Funk/R&B/Pop/Disco group, T-Connection, which he formed with his younger brother and their friends.

As a young prodigy, Theo played in his father’s band, the Upsetters. At sixteen he met and auditioned for Duke Hanna and played with Duke’s band on Andros. From there he moved to Nassau and played at several hotels, including the Nassau Beach Hotel for two years of with a group called the Blue Notes. Theo formed T-Connection, which would become one of the most prestigious bands to come out of The Bahamas. The band gained their fame in the Nassau and in November 1975 T-Connection was asked to move to Freeport to play at a club called ‘The Kiki Rouge.’ There they went from local music heroes to national stars. After that, the Group appeared on the Television show American Bandstand.

T-Connection first signed with TK Records in Miami, Florida in 1976. Their first major hits were “Disco Magic” and “Do What You Wanna Do” which later became a number one hit on the Billboard Dance chart, eventually gaining a Grammy nomination for top dance hit of the year 1977. They recorded four albums at TK Records, before going to New York City to record four albums with Capitol Records. In 1981 they recorded two of their biggest hits “Paradise” and “Everything Is Cool.” They appeared on the TV show Soul Train that same year. In 1982 T-Connection recorded the Album “Pure and Natural” which included the popular Ballad “Best of my Love”.

In 1984, Theo disbanded the group to work on his solo career. In 1988 Theo released his first Smooth Jazz album, Written on the Water. He moved to Southern California in 1996 and started playing Smooth Jazz with his friend John Carey.

In 2003, T-Connection reunited to perform in the Bahamas, mainly for special events such as the Bahamas Independence. Theo released his second solo CD “So Nice” on April 10, 2015, before travelling to the Bahamas to perform at The Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival. Theo still plays Smooth Jazz with John Carey.

TERRANCE RODGERS, Pianist Vocalist

Terrance’s father was a musician so very early in life, he developed a love of music and understood the powerful influence music has on the emotional and mental development of a person. Between the ages of 7-2, he mastered basic skills in playing guitarist, bass and piano and later the organ all of which gave him an understanding group affiliation.  He pursued further training in Opera and eastern exercises enabling him to train voices and choirs.

  As a 20th century man, he realized that the merging of electronics platforms with basic instrument skills was rapidly becoming part of musical production and dispensing it to a broad field of media. He became an eager candidate of the advancing technology and undertook studies in Technical and Sound Engineering in London.

Between 1989 – 1994  created Techknol Media Center where he nurtured trained aspiring music students. His efforts in this venter have yielded first and second generations of skilled musicians applying their skills in a variety of industries.

Terrance has had a diverse work-life.  In the USA he scored music for TV shows and films and, also, acted in several performing as a musician.  In London and in Nassau he has performed and done studio work with A-List entertainers.

A Bahamian born, Turks & Caicos Belonger, Raj grew up in the US, progressively making a name for himself in the entertainment industry, He is known particularly for his skills in stage & artist management, marketing coordination, artist development, singing, songwriting, music and stage production, and many other accomplishments in the entertainment arena.

His varied and diverse musical exposure and experiences have culminated in a level of entertainment that is a blend of Caribbean, Reggae, R&B, Pop and Golden Oldies making him a much sought-after entertainer who charms audiences in the Turks & Caicos Island.


Princess is a cultural renaissance griot, with Bahamian, Jamaican and Barbadian roots. She was gifted from birth, nurtured and developed in a rich multicultural, literary, and musically creative family. As a multifaceted, autodidact multi-potentialities, she dances to many rhythms as a multidimensional artist. She shares her sensual island gal magic, as the founder of Sensually Spiritually Culturally Me by giving animated life to stories. She is a Storyteller, Poet, Writer, Producer, Event Curator, Dancer, Percussionist and sole female drummer/performer in the cultural group Ubuntu. She is a magical island Princess with The Princess and The Books, her children’s storytelling, creative play and edutainment brand.

Through her writing, storytelling and poetry she has graced many diverse platforms as a speaker, poet, panellist, and performer for events such as The Regional Women’s March, Women’s Wednesdays, International Day of Silence, Blue Flamingo Literary Festival and Woman’s Tongue. At Comedytainment, she shared the stage with international Caribbean dub-poets Mutabaruka and Yasus Afari. In March of 2017, she launched Expressions, a weekly spoken word and open mic event, that ran for about a year, ending with a holiday market featuring artists and artisans.

With Christine Wilson in 2018, she created Saucy Expressions, a creative arts brand. They hosted two successful poetry and open mic events, called Barefoot Poetry, and dynamic night of Riddim n Tingum during ‘The Fruit and The Seed’ exhibition at NAGB, A Season at Fiona’s in 2019. There she presented as one of 30 of the best emerging contemporary artists at the NE9 National Exhibition.

NICK LIDO, Pianist

Two things become evident when you meet Nick Lido: He is a man who is motivated by playing the piano and he loves to travel.  Unlike many readers, he has successfully merged his two passions and created a rewarding career. By now you are likely wondering how he accomplished this.

Nick has honed his musical skills to the level of pro pianist and from 2001 through 2016 he has ’worked’ with a number of the world’s major cruise lines.  The three years with Disney doing stage shows certainly challenged his creativity but certainly was a fun gig. This lead to stints with Princess, Norwegian and Cunard in 2016. Sunbathing in a deck chair and listening to Nick’s soothing interpretations of contemporary tunes undoubtedly made passengers say ‘this is the life’.  Nick has obviously been influenced by his visits to Russia, Japan, Europe and the Caribbean and able to perform to the taste of the current passengers on board. He submitted a clip of his treatment of ‘One Note Samba’ as a preview of what’s to come.  Be ready to enjoy the sophisticated styling of Nick Lido.


Musician, Yogi and healer. Raised on the traditional path of yoga. A unique vocalist, Narayan blends in his music from different traditions of music from the east to the west.  He uses music as a form of healing and meditation.

Narayan lives in Israel and travels the world teaching healing and meditation techniques and performs with sacred music.

LEO M JONES, Pianist

A young pianist and vocalist, Leo is a gifted musician who presents an evening’s performance that keeps you returning for that magical moment again and again. He never fails to deliver. His piano style is classical with a command of R&B and Bahamian Soul that leaves the audience pulsating. Leo’s vocals are soulful and give vibes of pleasure, enchantment.

RANDAL GRAY (aka Legendary Soul)

Randal is an artist who stands on the shoulders of the greatest soul, blues and gospel legends before him. His vocal entertainment is influential, infectious and inspirational. He is a vocalist grounded deeply in the gospel.

His goal is to grab audiences with his personality, passion, power, vocal range and emotional appeal as he gives audiences the performance of a lifetime. Originally from Waynesboro, Mississippi, he is currently living in Los Angeles, California.


Lee Callender has been a pianist since the age of six beginning lessons under the tutelage of his grandfather, the late Timothy Gibson, composer of the National Anthem of the Bahamas. He later continued his studies in Barbados with Janice Millington and with Diane Provencal of Canada.

He studies occasionally with Edna Golandsky N.Y. In 1984 he obtained the Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music in piano performance.  Callender has performed in the Caribbean, the U.S. and Europe. Mr Callender is a vocal coach and is on the adjunct faculty at the University of The Bahamas for Piano studies.


Keysha Edwards Taylor is the daughter of the Bahamian Cultural Icon, the late Kayla Lockhart Edwards. She attained her Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance at the University of Miami in 1993. After graduating, she married Charles Taylor and together serve in full time pastoral and music ministry at Grace Communion International Miramar Florida.

Bahamian grown and nurtured in the cultural arena, Keysha’s passion is to uplift and encourage every soul through her compositions. She has exercised her musical abilities in almost every form from arranging, composing, performing, studio work and accompanying while serving wherever she goes. Keysha is now an author and entrepreneur and has released 3 albums, Father’s Heart, Deep Songs From Within and just recently Piano Works.

Keysha’s musical style is a beautiful blend of Classical, R&B with hints of Island and Jazz rhythms.

KENT STEVENSON, Choral Director, Pianist

Seattle, Washingon based musician/composer/music educator Kent Stevenson, is the Music/Choral Director of Saint Therese Catholic Church and teaches music in the Saint Therese Catholic Academy. In addition to accompanying groups and vocalists, Kent composes music for children and liturgical music for the Catholic Church. Kent has been commissioned to compose choral works for the Seattle Peace Chorus, the City Cantabile Choir. He has directed numerous local theatre productions.

His choral concert tours and workshops have taken him around the world, including China, Russia, Cuba, Brazil, Paris throughout Europe and The Bahamas.


Following in his Father’s footsteps, Nassau native, Karrington began singing at a very young age. He graduated from Queen’s College in 2018. He began his career with the assistance of Prodigy, an organization founded by Paul and Tanya Hanna that gave him opportunities to travel to Tennessee to perform at Lee University and Maxwell House. He has recorded and performed with Grammy Nominated Producer, Roger Ryan. He opened a concert for Grammy Award Winning Artist, James Ingram and Grammy Nominated R&B singer Freddie Jackson.

Karrington’s faith in Christ Jesus has given him many opportunities to share the Gospel through song on numerous platforms, locally and internationally. He has performed at FamFest, National Prayer Services and Gospel Concerts in Atlanta, Connecticut, Florida and Minnesota. He has performed at numerous Political Conventions, Government House, REV Cable Bahamas, and at Baha Mar and Atlantis resorts. He has sung the National Anthem for the U.S. Embassy for 4 years in Nassau, and in the US. He has received numerous awards including the Rising Star Award from the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture.

When Karrington’s faith was put to the test a few years ago when he was diagnosed with a form of cancer “Hodgkin Lymphoma”, he never allowed it to discourage him or lose his faith. He fought and overcame his illness, and started a movement called “Lord Over My Life” for which he is currently singing and sharing his testimony of the goodness of God. Karrington is working on his highly anticipated album to be released late 2020/Early 2021.

GIVETON GELIN, Jazz Trumpeter

By the age of 10-years, Gelin had taught himself to play the trumpet simply by emulating his favourite records  After years of self-tutelage, Adrian D’Aguilar, bass player, began to mentor him and providing him with the tools to play jazz. Later on, the Nassau-born trumpeter had to the opportunity to study with Dr Eddie Henderson at the Oberlin Conservatory. He progressed to the point that shortly after he received recognition at the Young Arts Foundation and the Betty Carter Jazz Ahead Program. He is presently pursuing studies at the Juilliard School of the Arts and expects to graduate in 2021.

After only a year in the US, Gelin has had the tremendous opportunity of played with pioneers of the NY jazz scene such as Curtis Lundy, Harold Mabern, Winard Harper, Sullivan Fortner, Ben Wolfe, and Jon Batiste. Additionally, the 20-year-old trumpeter has received tutelage from some of the world’s greatest artists including Wynton Marsalis, Nicholas Payton, Ralph Peterson, and the late Roy Hargrove. Earlier this year, the Bahamas-native was awarded the 2020 LetterOne Rising Star Jazz Award, and ASCAP’s Herb Alpert Award.

Ultimately, Gelin’s artistic vision is to pay tribute to his ancestors as well as unify others by incorporating universal human experiences into sound. With his quintet, the young trumpeter brings forth a new narrative to jazz music.

CHRISTIAN JUSTILIEN, Musician, composer, Motivational speaker, Community leader, Junkanoo, & Educator.

Christian Justilien – Assistant Professor (Band Director) at the University of The Bahamas where he’s responsible for instrumental ensembles that include the UB Concert Band, and the UB Pop Ensemble. Christian is also the leader of AMBASAH (Jazz/ Caribbean Band), Leader of Colours Entertainment & Junkanoo Organization, a motivational speaker, and member of the C-Force Chamber Ensemble. His latest project is the start-up of a 21-piece steel band “Deep Blu Steel”.

Christian received a BA in Professional Music Studies from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he was the founding director of the Berklee Caribbean Ensemble, and an MEd. from the VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, Illinois resulting in an educational website on “Musicians & Entertainers of The Bahamas” (http://www.bahamasentertainers.com).

He’ s actively involved in his community and projects geared towards the advancement of young people and the preservation of Bahamian culture. Christian has produced four recordings of traditional junkanoo music; three with ROOTS, and one more recently with his award-winning 2019/2020 championship Junkanoo group “Colours” that has performed all over the United States, Caribbean, and Europe.

Christian is also the composer of the University of The Bahamas alma mater, “Bahama Islands Suite” a piece written for C-Force that vividly captures the discovery, historical events, and the spirit of the islands of The Bahamas. His compositions and musical arrangements have been featured in local and international films and plays.

Latest projects include co-producing and performing in the concert recorded as a result of COVID-19 inclusive of faculty and students from The University of The Bahamas. Additionally, a first of its kind junkanoo video production recorded during the lock-down from the various homes of Colours Junkanoo members.

AKIA KNOWLES, Piano Vocalist

This young woman describes herself as a simple Island girl with very big dreams.

 Akia majored in Music Arts and after graduating she enjoyed teaching for a few years. But there was an ember within that kept burning ever brighter so she finally decided to leave teaching to pursue her dream of a career in music. She says, “I’ve never regretted that decision.”  “Music has opened doors and opportunities for me that many could only dream of.”

Between 2007-2017 Akia recorded 3 albums and one single. Since 2013 Akia is living every young artist’s dream; She was engaged as a resident performer at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Osaka, Japan and since 2015 she has been a resident performer with the Langham Hotel chain in China.

She gives this advice to those who have aspirations, “stick to your dreams! And don’t give up.”  After waiting a decade for things to break she wanted to quit but she held on “and reality caught up with my dreams.”  She tells young artists to”believe and trusts in God and surround yourself with a strong support system,  family first and a good marketing team.

I consider my talents a gift and I feel extremely humbled that God entrusted me with the power to inspire others.


Originally from Mastic Point, Andros, Adrianna began singing from the age of 7 years old. She later became a palmist at the Jubilee Christian Ministries International in Nassau. In 2009, she was the first runner-up in the Bahamian Idol competition. She was awarded the Prize Factor People’s Award ‘Urban Solo Artist of the Year’ in 2019 in Atlanta, Georgia. During her 20 year career, Adrianna has performed and participated in competitions in Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, Nashville, Jamaica and multiple Bahamian islands.


Bahamian, Adrian grew up in a musical family who nurtured his early interest in music.  In 1980  Adrian pursued his passion by attending the prestigious Berklee School of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, and later The Musicians’ Institute in Hollywood, California.  At graduation in 1982, he was recognized as ‘most outstanding bassist’. His mentors and tutors on the double bass include a Who’s-Who of bass players, who instilled in him the desire to pursue career and life-time of study.

Adrian has performed as a professional bassist for over 20 years in the USA, in Los Angeles, Boston, Washington DC, and New York City, performing with jazz combos, big bands, R&B, calypso and reggae groups. Adrian also worked in film and television, co-arranging soundtracks. His talent enables him to ‘cross over’ musical genres, and he has performed as a member of the Brentwood Symphony Orchestra in Los Angeles.

Active in the local music circle, Adrian has performed with legendary stalwarts. His playing has enhanced local jazz festivals along with his jazz colleagues from abroad. He is dedicated to developing opportunities for young musicians, both in the areas of jazz and classical music through his participation with the Bahamas National Symphony Orchestra and as a tutor of the Bahamas Music Conservatory.

His current project the Jazz Cats, founded five years ago, is for youths ages 8-18 which has already seen trumpeter, Giveton Gelin showing great international promise with a full scholarship to The Juilliard School of music under the tutelage of the renown  Wynton Marsalis.

Aria Hanna, Pianist

Granddaughter of Paul & Tanya Hanna and daughter of Troika & Jacqueline Hanna, she attends DC Christian Academy and lives in Nashville Tennessee.  She began piano at age five and receives online piano lessons from her grad dad Paul Hanna.

Aria enjoys singing in the church choir, dancing and loves to play the piano.

DANDRIA SCOTT, Dancer, Educator

Dandria is a passionate teacher and dance instructor born in Nassau Bahamas, graduated from the University of South Florida with a degree In Fine Arts, Dance and Theatre Studies. She earned her MBA with a concentration in Finance from the Ecole Superieure de Commerce in Rennes France. She is an associate of Dance Masters of America Teachers Training School where she completed her teaching certification in Ballet, Modern, and Jazz Dance.

As a Dance Educator, she enjoys training aspiring dancers of all ages. She is the founder of Arise Institute of Fine Arts and has produced a series of works called Chronicles of the Kingdom a drama that includes aerial arts, ballet and many other art forms. As a choreographer, she enjoys composing pieces built from technique and improvisation. Her desire is to convey a message through the arts with clarity and substance that inspires change and wholeness in our community and the nations of the world.

Paul & Tanya Hanna

Paul and Tanya are legendary performing ar-sts in The Bahamas who have been working together for decades. Through the years they have demonstrated their desire to mo-vate, energize and inspire young persons and talented contemporaries. Their social interests have included giving instruments and lessons to underprivileged youths, community cleanup efforts, producing benefit concerts and expos to raise funds for diabetes awareness and more recently Hurricane Dorian Relief. Now through The Inspire Foundation, a non-profit organization, they have extended their altruistic efforts to aid musicians and other entertainers who have been blindsided by COVID-19.

During Tanya’s long-running s-nt entertaining guests in the piano lounge at Nassau’s historic Graycliff Restaurant, she built up a local fan base and met many interna-onal ar-sts and celebrities. These encounters have led to opportuni-es for the pair to entertain at private events in the United States and Canada. The couple has shared the stage with Grammy award-winning percussionist/producer Jeff Haynes, the legendary pianist-composer Chick Corea, composer, Broadway musician Gary Hasse and Grammy nominated composer/singer/producer Roger Ryan.

Paul’s mellow tenor voice and piano dexterity lend themselves well to tunes from the great ‘American Songbook’ making him a favourite of mature audiences. He has, however, an expansive repertoire including a variety of genres which he executes with equal aplomb. His original compositions presents a commentary on local events spiced up with steel pan riffs has caught the attention of young locals. Over the years Paul has produced numerous CDs of the pair’s original music. He has reams of original charts for piano and tries to get in studio time between teaching, events and other engagements to record more of them.

Paul and Tanya each authored several books. Paul’s book of short poems that capture life’s common challenges is an enjoyable read. He also published a teach-yourself-piano tutorial for learners of all ages. Tanya’s well-researched book featuring the health benefits of herbs with recipes and photos is informative and practical. Clearly Paul and Tanya who are the products of musical families are committed to motivate, energize and inspire others with their combined talents and energy.
